The farm is involved with Brownfield Associates Ltd, which contract farms the arable land on the Henham Estate for the Earl of Stradbroke.

It is also involved with The Forum for Sustainable farming which is a company set up between Unilever and vining pea growers from East Anglia, Lincolnshire and Yorkshire, which receives some funding from DEFRA with its aim to promote sustainable farming practices based on ten core indicators amongst 420 farmers.

There is currently an ongoing farmland bird survey on the farm for the charity Songbird Survival which is dedicated to protect and help the many species of songbirds in the UK which have suffered large declines in their breeding population.

I have been a participating farmer in the following projects.

The Sustainable Arable Farming For an Improved Environment (SAFFIE) project which has pioneered work on undrilled patches in cereal crops to improve the field conditions for skylarks, and also 6 metre headland margins of wild flowers and grasses under different management systems.

The Unilever Sustainability project which has monitored farm bird numbers, beneficial insects, butterflies,
soil invertebrates and the biodiversity in general of the farm. Also the monitoring of fertiliser leaching into the field ditches, and ways of reducing this especially concerning nitrates.

Farmers 4 Nature is a European project involving farmers in several countries around the North Sea rim. It compares what farmers are doing in Holland, Germany, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium and the UK to help nature in their own countries, and involves ecologists and farmers.
